HCT co-author Janice Stewart was invited in 2012 to be a member of the Advisory Committee for the newly released ISSA/CIRI K-12 Clean Standard for Schools. In an age where trimming budgets drives decision-making, “[t]he vast majority of staff and visitors to these schools generally judge cleaning effectiveness by the senses–sight, smell, and even touch. But this approach to assessing the effectiveness of cleaning is woefully inadequate in this age of MRSA, norovirus, and other infectious agents that defy detection by the senses alone.”

January 28-30, 2013: Vance Attends Annual Surfaces Trade Show
HCT Instructor Bruce Vance attended the annual Surfaces Expo in Las Vegas. This is a critical part of his continuing education as the lead HCT instructor, especially since surface identification is second only to soil identification in choosing safe and effective cleaning products and procedures.

March 12, 2012: First HCT Certificates Awarded
A momentous day for the Institute for Service Excellence, but also for The Clean Trust and for the Association of Residential Cleaning Services International. It’s taken almost six years since members of ARCSI first applied to The Clean Trust (then IICRC) to develop a brand new and more importantly first certification specifically designed for residential cleaning technicians. Today at Castle Keepers of Charleston, Champagne Services of Northern Virginia, and Town and Country Cleaning Services of Raleigh, NC, the VERY FIRST House Cleaning Technician certificates arrived.
February 2, 2012: School Launches First Chemical Free Cleaning Training
Modern Cleaning™, a pioneer in the development of a complete methodology for Chemical Free Cleaning in the residential cleaning industry, has launched its Modern Cleaning™ Cleaner, Safer, Greener™ Chemical Free Cleaning Training Program. The classes will be taught through the Institute for Service Excellence for the first time in March 2012. ISE and Modern Cleaning are especially pleased to announce that The Clean Trust has approved both of the classes as Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for its certification renewals; each class is approved for two (2) CECs.
November 28, 2011: Home Cleaner School First Approved By The Clean Trust
More than five years in the making, the first residential cleaning standard and certification course has been approved, and the Institute for Service Excellence is the first school authorized to provide training and deliver the certification examination on behalf of The Clean Trust. This course is a huge step forward in the residential cleaning industry as we promote cleaning as a science rather than simply aesthetics.

August 18, 2011: Launching The Cleaning Industry Into The Future
With its TRUE Chemical Free Cleaning course, the Institute for Service Excellence (ISE), founded by four ARCSI member companies, is leading the way into the future of the residential cleaning industry. On August 1st, Kiser along with his partners Tom and Janice Stewart, Derek Christian, and Bruce and Sarah Vance, officially announced the Institute for Service Excellence to the world of residential cleaning and the buzz started immediately.

August 1, 2011: School For House Cleaning Certification Opens
The Institute for Service Excellence launches the first ever training school for housecleaning technician certification as well as residential cleaning business and management practices.
